1. The ICU visiting hours is from 12.00 am – 5.00 pm, during which total three visits to the ICU are permitted.2. Family Physician's Visit:
- The family physician of the patient is issued a DOCTORS PASS by the reception counter.
- The timing for the visits is from 12.00 am to 5.00 pm for both the ward and the ICU.
- The family physician is requested to give his / her visiting card at the counter when they come to visit the patient as the pass will be issued on the same.
While you are in a procedure we allow a total of 3 visitors in the first floor counseling area. Your consultant will Call them once the procedure is over.
Visitor Provisions
While you are recovering from the procedure in the Intensive Care Unit your relatives will be provided with a sofa cum bed in a comfortable cubicle with communication facilities in the waiting lounge on the first floor. This facility is allowed only for one relative with a 24-hour pass.Kindly ensure that you do not have more than two relatives in the waiting area at any given time.
Room Retention
While you are in the ICU, your relatives can retain the rooms in the fourth floor only, subject to availability, on extra payment.Physiotherapy is a health service that involves rehabilitating & maximizing the functional potential of an individual who has a disease/ dysfunction or injury.

Inpatient Rehabilitation Program:
The physiotherapists work closely with members of the medical team to reduce period of hospitalization and optimize patient's physical functions.The services are provided for patient admitted to the hospital mainly in the areas of cardio-pulmonary care.
These services are rendered in the intensive care units (ICU) as well as patient rooms (wards).
Some of these services are:
- Respiratory Physiotherapy
- Therapeutic Exercises for cardiac and non cardiac cases
- Post-operative joint replacement rehabilitation
- Musculoskeletal rehabilitation
- Neurological rehabilitation
- Electrotherapy for pain management
- Patient and Family Education and counseling
Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program:
This program aims to reduce symptoms and improve physical fitness of patients suffering from respiratory diseases like bronchial asthma, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorders).Physiotherapists work closely with the physician, Intensivist and the nurse to:
- Prevent acute episodes
- Reduce hospital stay
- Improve patient's level of fitness and endurance and gain their optimal functional independence
- Aerosol Therapy: (Nebulization)
- Chest Therapy: which includes Postural Drainage on specially designed postural drainage couch, Ventilatory Muscle Training, Endurance and Strength Training, Pacing Techniques, Relaxation Techniques
- Self Care Training: Help to cope up with daily living activities
- Patient and Family Education: Patient information and counseling
Out Patient Rehabilitation:
Caters to the following types of cases:- Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Program:
This program is catered in the outpatient department to individuals with problems like:

- degenerative arthritis (click here to know more about knee health check up)
- frozen shoulder
- joint replacements - Sports Injury and Rehabilitation:
This program includes sports performance enhancement, gait analysis, biomechanical assessment. Also includes common problems like a sprained ankle, tennis elbow, rotator cuff injuries, knee ligament injuries, postural and biomechanical disorders (scoliosis) etc.
The physiotherapist evaluates and provides appropriate treatment which includes:
- Electrotherapy to promote healing process and pain relief
- Hands on joint mobilization by manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization, stretching, strapping
- Therapeutic exercise to maintain & improve joint flexibility, muscular strength, endurance, balance and coordination, postural awareness / correction and gait training
Exercises are taught so that they can be safely performed at home. Electrotherapy equipments are of Chattanooga USA. The electrotherapy services are:

- Transcutaneous Nerve Stimulation
- Muscle Stimulation - Geriatric Care Program: This program caters to the elderly populations who have problems like multi-joint pain, frequent falls, osteoporosis, general physical fitness, etc.
- Paediatric Rehabilitation Program: This caters to children with orthopaedic problems [congenital deformities or injuries], neurological problems [cerebral palsy, erbs palsy, etc], respiratory problems [asthma, bronchiolitis, etc]. The child care program promotes physical fitness in school children.
- Neurological Conditions: This caters to people with neurological problems like stroke, Parkinsons, multiple sclerosis, etc.
- General Fitness Promotion: This caters to people who are interested in improving their physical fitness and preventing injuries. the aim is to promote healthy lifestyles, weight reduction and includes health promotion talks.
- Insoles, corrective footwear and Braces: The department caters to people having flat feet / pronated feet by providing them with insoles having arch support. (Vasyli insoles). Supportive devices in the form of braces and splints are also available here. Eg.: Knee caps, lumbar belts, wrist bands, etc.
- Group Exercise Program (Spine Class): A new initiative is being taken by the department for people suffering from back problems, whereby the patients are grouped together for exercises utilizing the facilities like vestibular ball, tilt board, theraband, etc. thrice a week.
- Spinal Health Check (SHC): SHC is conducted every month to check the condition of your back and the intervention needed is suggested at the same time.
A similar approach for Knee Health Check is also on the cards. - Postural Ergonomic Advice: A comprehensive program covering evaluation and advice for people suffering from problems due to faulty posture induced by occupational stresses.
